First KumbalPerahera of the Kandy EsalaPerahera Festival parades the streets tonight

The first KumbalPerahera of the SenkadagalaEsalaPerahera Festival will parade the streets tonight.
The KumbalPerahera will parade the streets until the 20th of this month. The final RandoliPerahera is due to parade the streets on the 25th of this month. The first KumbalPerahera is due to parade along the DaladaVeediya and reach the Deva Veediya along the Temple Road via the D.S. SenanayakeVeediya and return to the DaladaMaligawa through the Colombo Street, YatinuwaraVeediya and Raja Veediya.
DiyawadanaNilame Pradeep NilangaDela said that the first KumbalPerahera is slated to parade the streets tonight. He made a fervent appeal to the public to take back along with them particularly the plastic bottles and polythene that they bring. He called along upon the devotees to venerate the relics casket when it passed them during the Perahera and also respect the sacred objects when taken by the four MahaDevales. The devotees were also called upon to behave in a religious manner when they are viewing the Perahera.
Meanwhile the vesting of many public facilities installed at the Sri DaladaMaligawa took place under the patronage of Minister PatalieChampikaRanawaka. Accordingly the Minister vested in the DaladaMaligawa the water pool built for the benefit of the elephants, the multipurpose building and the developed DharmapalaMawatha. The launch of development activities related to the MahaMaluwa also took place. The expenditure incurred on these projects was in the region of 125 million rupees. Financial grants were provided by the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development.
Among those who joined in the occasion were Minister LakshmanKiriella, Central Province Governor P.B. Dissanayake and the DiyawadanaNilame Pradeep NilangaDela.
