Several amendments to be effected to give tax concessions for artistes

The Finance Ministry has planned to bring in several amendments to the Inland Revenue Act this month to remove some of the taxes imposed on artistes in the country.

In such a situation, if the Government does not respond to the tax removal, the organization called the ‘Free Arts Alliance has said that said that the protest will be conducted island wide with the participation of artistes.

The President of the arts association Sudath Rohana stated that actors, film and tele drama directors, script writers and make-up artists will participate in the protest. The Government has already taken measures to reduce taxes on local artists and it has been proposed to exempt artistes from annual tax income of up to 500,000.

President of the Free Arts Alliance Sudath Rohana has been a very loyal Rajapaksa during the past years and he has already made a request from Basil to contest the upcoming provincial council election under the Pohottuwa symbol.

Organizing such agitations has become part of his campaign.
