More than 80,000 runners take part in Sydney’s annual City2Surf race

More than 80,000 people took part in Sydney’s annual City2Surf race with Olympic long-distance runner Ben St Lawrence winning the event in a time of 41 minutes. The first woman to complete the 14-kilometre run to Bondi Beach was Ellie Pashley arriving at Bondi in a time of 46 minutes, Australian media reported. The City2Surf started in 1971 and raises millions of dollars for various charities across Australia. Competitors find the most difficult part of the course a two kilometre steep incline called “Heartbreak Hill” at the halfway mark.
