Athletes compete in gruelling Gobi March

Hong Kong ultrarunner Wong Ho Chung won the Gobi March 2018 in Mongolia, crossing the finish line of the 250-km multi-stage race in 20 hours and 34 minutes. Japan’s Wataru Iino finished second, while fellow Japanese competitor Takuya Wakaoka was third. San Francisco-based German Angela Zaeh was the first woman across the line in a time of 25 hours, 10 minutes and finished fifth overall. This year marked the 15th edition of the annual Gobi March. The six-stage race began on July 29 and more than 200 competitors from 50 countries followed the footsteps of Genghis Khan in the Mongolian wilderness.
