Animals get cooling treats to beat heat at London Zoo

Animals at London Zoo received a welcome respite from the heat, when zookeepers came up with novel ways to keep them cool.Otters were given frozen crayfish to enjoy and the zoo’s bearded pigs were given a cool shower.Gorillas at the famous attraction ate frozen cucumbers while meerkats took part in a game of ‘pea-bobbing’ – or eating peas frozen into blocks of ice.Britain, famous for its cold and rainy summers, has been experiencing high temperatures for weeks and on Wednesday thermometers in the capital reached 30C. While temperatures are expected to rise to 34C in some parts of Britain on Thursday , a yellow warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for on Friday.
