Decision to execute drug racketeers will not be changed.

President Maithripala Sirisena says the government’s decision to execute drug racketeers will not be changed.

The President expressed these views during the inauguration of construction of the China-Sri Lanka friendship hospital in Polonnaruwa. The construction of the South Asia’s biggest kidney hospital which is a donation from the Chinese government, were commenced under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. 12 thousand million rupees will be spent to build the hospital. The constructions of the hospital is scheduled to be completed on July 2020.

President Maithripala Sirisena unveiled the commemorative plaque commencing the constructions. Speaking on the occasion the President expressed his views about a news report published by a Sunday newspaper which said that the President has given up the decision to execute drug racketeers. The President emphasized that the decision to implement the death penalty for drug racketeers will not be changed in spite of protests that may arise.  The China – Sri Lanka Friendship Kidney hospital will be equipped with the most modern laboratories and high technological facilities. It will have a 200 bed ward complex, and outpatient’s treatment unit with 100 dialysis machines and other facilities.

The hospital will be equipped with a special kidney patient clinic complex and 6 modern surgical theaters for kidney transplants. It will also have a modern auditorium with a seating capacity for 200 and a vehicle park to accommodate 300 vehicles. 100 Ambulances with all facilities have been given under Australian financial assistance and the President handed over the vehicles to the Health Minister.  The President made a financial donation of 1.5 million rupees for the education of Venulie Lehansa who is studying in grade 11 at Dimbulagala Vilayaya Primary School who has shown exceptional talents in Chess.
