President delivers the special address at the World Forest Conference

President Maithripala Sirisena has said that as a priority step, the Sri Lankan Government is dedicated to uplifting the forest density to meet the sustainable development targets. The President was delivering a special address at the Sixth World Forest Week Commemorative Conference and the 24th sessions of the Committee on Forestry.

The Conference commenced at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome this morning. The President received a very warm welcome.

Delivering the special address, President Maithripala Sirisena said that the human being and society receive many benefits from forests. He said that it is very important to sustainably manage the network so that it meets the needs of the human beings. He said that this world Conservation Committee is the best dais to have a broad dialog and take important decisions.

The President emphasized that all countries should collectively be dedicated to win the agenda in the future although it may be complex and challenging.
