Kurunegala Gamperaliya program inaugurated

Kurunegala District program of the Gamperaliya Mega Development project inaugurated today under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. The aim of the Gamperaliya National Program is to develop many areas including renovation of small tanks in each divisional secretariat division of the Kurunegala District. The Kurunegala District Development project was launched today with the commencement of Kurunegala, Rasnayakapura, Kaluketiya, Bulathwewa development activities.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe unveiled the commemorative plaque and commenced redevelopment work of the tank. More than 4 million rupees has been allocated to redevelop the tank which is about 80 acres in extent. A large number of paddy fields can be cultivated with the redevelopment of the tank. Plans have been drawn up to implement many programs within next two years under the Gamperaliya Development project. Issuing of land certificates and equipment to women’s organizations took place under the patronage of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also opened the Bank of Ceylon and People’s Bank branches in Nikaweratiya town to issue loans under Enterprise Sri Lanka program. Meanwhile another project in Wellawaya, Randeniya, Meedeniya area was commenced to coincide with the Gamperaliya program under the patronage of Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara. Under that constructions of Meedeniya, Mankada Bridge were launched. The project was launched with the planting of a Nuga Tree instead of laying a foundation stone. The Project is estimated to cost 45 million rupees
