Rainstorm trigger flash flood in southwest China

Rainstorms triggered a powerful flash flood in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China’s Yunnan Province, submerging a school and large areas of farmland. The flash flood struck a middle school in Malipo County of Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. The playground of the local middle school was turned into a muddy river, with floodwater reaching 1.8 meters.

Meanwhile, a heavy dust storm hit an area of north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Gale started in the Alashan Left Banner of Inner Mongolia, not long before a hundreds of meters high wall of dust came into the sight of local residents. The chocking dust storm soon engulfed the area and lasted for about 15 minutes, limiting visibility to less than 10 meters and led to a blackout which lasted about two hours.
