Second part of the investment of the Hambantota Harbour

The second part of the investment of the Hambantota Harbour has been given to Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The China Merchant Holdings Company has paid 97.3 million US Dollars to the Ports Authority. Sri Lanka Ports Authority and China Merchant Port Holdings Company signed an agreement to develop the Hambantota harbor on the 9th of December. In the first phase of the project, 389.4 million US Dollars was paid to Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Issuing a statement Sri Lanka Ports Authority said that the remaining 97.3 million US Dollars was paid on the 8th of this month. Chairman of the Authority Parakrama Dissanayake said that such a big company in the shipping sector coming to invest in the Hambantota Harbour shows confidence placed in Sri Lanka’s economy.
