Torrential rains that have caused the deaths of nearly 400 people in Colombia since February were expected to continue until the end of June. Thousands of people have been affected by the heavy rains, windstorms and flooding that have hit Colombia in the past few months. President Juan Manuel Santos, who called a council of ministers meeting to assess the situation, said there have been 389 deaths associated with the rains and floods. Police in Soacha, south of Bogota, were assisting local residents, after a mudslide killed three people and destroyed nearby homes.
