The Team Indian Coaching drama culminated with the Indian cricket board’s Cricket Advisory Committee naming Ravi Shastri the new coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. The 55-year-old will replace Anil Kumble, who resigned following India’s Champions Trophy campaign in which they lost to in the final to Pakistan. Kumble said he stepped down after one year because his “partnership” with Captain Virat Kohli was “untenable”. Former India all-rounder Shastri will hold the charge till the 2019 ICC World Cup. He had earlier served as the Team Director before Anil Kumble was appointed in 2016 the head coach for a year. Zaheer Khan has been appointed bowling consultant and Rahul Dravid will be India’s overseas batting consultant for the Test team.
