Feeling stressed by the strains of modern life? In need of some meditation? Well, a Denmark-based mental wellness company has created a motion-tracking meditation app based on Tai Chi, but some say looking for enlightenment via a smartphone is a lost cause. Around ten years ago, Chinese software engineer Peng Cheng was suffering from stress and depression. But when his employer Nokia shut down its operations in Copenhagen, he finally had time to recover, practicing meditation and Tai Chi. That’s when he decided to combine his expertise in interaction design with a new-found knowledge of meditation. Earlier this year, he launched ‘Sway’, an interactive meditation app that uses a device’s inbuilt movement tracking. The idea is to help users find an oasis of calm among the hustle and bustle of modern life.
