Two senior journalists who had made a special contribution to the development in the media sphere assumed duties in two high positions in the Independent Television Network today. Joining at this function, Acting ITN Chairman Saman Athaudahetti said that he had effected an amendment to the single position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Chandana Tilakaratne who assumed duties at the Chief Executive Officer of ITN said that the administration of the establishment has again been transformed into a more precise position.
Chandana Tilakaratne who was a Grade One Announcer of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation was also a pioneer member of Lakhanda Radio. He was able to transform Lakhanda Radio which was running at a loss, into a viable position during the period he was serving as the Deputy General Manager of the Radio Channel.
The programme titled “Diyunuwe Ran Doratuwa” which was presented by Mr. Tilakaratne, succeeded in receiving the Sumathi Award for the first time in the history of Lakhanda Radio. Chandana Tilakaratne had served in positions as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer in many leading private media channels in Sri Lanka. He was serving as a Senior Advisor of the Sinhala Service of the Chinese International Radio. He received the highest grade in the ratings awarded to foreign experts by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. He is also an author who had authored several books under various topics.
Piyadasa Rathnasinghe, the new Advisor on Marketing and Programmes of the Independent Television Network is a journalist who had received many awards in the television and radio spheres. He had also been awarded with the once in a lifetime award presented to a journalist with the state award in the year 2012.
Mr. Ratnasinghe was also a founding staff member of ITN. He has also made a vital contribution to the production sector of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. He had worked for a long period in the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and also served as a Deputy Director General of the Corporation. The “Esi Disi Mayawa” book which won a State Award in 2006 was authored by Piyadasa Ratnasinghe. He is serving as an external lecturer on television media in several Universities.
