Due to its diverse landscape range from rainforest and arid plains to highlands and sandy beaches, Sri Lanka has now become a tourist attraction. There is an influx of tourists at many historic sites in Polonnaruwa.
Rajarata has become one of the main attractive locations for tourist famed for its ancient Buddhist ruins. There are many ruins in Polonnaruwa dating back to 2,000 years and which have drawn the attraction of the foreign tourists. Many tourists from European, Middle Eastern and Asian countries are visiting the area.
The peaceful atmosphere and political environment are the main reasons for the influx of tourists into the island.
Officials in charge of the archaeological division say that the daily income at the Polonnaruwa sacred site has also increased.
