Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that tough measures will be taken against corruption. This was stated by the Prime Minister at a function held in Moratuwa.
The rally had been organized to ensure the victory of the UNP candidates who are contesting for the local government polls. A large number of people participated in the rally.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said that he appointed the very first committee to inquire the bond issue within 2 weeks of the incident reported. He added that all the relevant measures were taken to investigate the matter in a proper way.
The Prime Minister stressed that they will never allow room for corruption. The corrupt elements of the UNP will be removed with the immediate effect. He added that anti-corruption measures will be implemented inside the party without fear.
The Prime Minister said that some politicians speaking against corruption have not lived up to anti-corruption standards as they retain corrupt elements in their parties.
Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka says a golden opportunity has been created to form a fresh municipal council in Moratuwa. He requested the public to entrust the administration of the municipal council to the ruling party that is committed to build the nation.
