The 35th anniversary of the Employees’ Trust Fund Board was held under the patronage of President Maithrepala Sirisena at the BMICH in Colombo. The Employees’ Trust Fund Board was established on 01st March 1981 under the guidance of former minister Lalith Athulathmudali. Employees of the private and semi government sectors are members of the fund. More than 2 million workers are members of the board at present. President Maithrepala Sirisena presented awards to 35 best employers on the occasion. Chairman of the ETF Mahinda Madihewa presented the book ‘Suraksha’ to the President. A first day cover and a stamp were issued to mark the occasion. The President handed over cash donations to two kidney patients for their kidney transplants. Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala, Ministers Wijedasa Rajapakse, Gayantha Karunathilake, W. D. J. Seneviratne, State Ministers Lakshman Seneviratne, Niroshan Perera, Ravindra Samaraweera, President’s Secretary P. B. Abeykoon, Defence Secretary Karunasena Hettiarchchi and a group of people were present on the occasion.
