The solar power war will begin on the 06th of next month. Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera said that this would be a significant progressive turning point in the local power sector.
Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera mentioned that the solar power war which is scheduled to commence on the 06th of September will be a remarkable turning point in the generation of solar power in the country. The Deputy Minister said that this solar power war will get underway based on three strategies for the first time in the world.
The Deputy Minister was addressing a news conference held at the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy. This solar power war is slated to commence from the official residence of the President under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. There will be an opportunity for the consumers who generate the solar power in this manner under this programme to the National Power Grid. It is expected to give 22 rupees for one megawatt of power generated by the consumers. Further addressing the journalists, Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera said that attention has been drawn to the launch of a programme to provide solar panels under a concessionary loan scheme. Plans are afoot to establish Solar Power Parks.
The Project will be operative under the first stage in the Northern, Southern and Eastern Provinces.
Responding to a query raised by a journalist, Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera said that the accusation made against the President by an Australian website was being vehemently rejected.
