Six foreign universities willing to set up branches following the SAITM judicial verdict

Minister Lakshman Kiriella has said that six foreign Universities are ready to set up branches in the island following the Appeals Court verdict on SAITM.
The Higher Education Minister said that after the recognition of SAITM through the court verdict six international Universities have expressed willingness to set up their branches in Sri Lanka. He said that it is a national crime if students cannot enter Universities after securing three A’s or three B’s from areas such as Colombo and Kandy. He declared that they were ready to sort out these issues. Eight million rupees was being spent annually on those seeking studies abroad for medicine. They expect to prepare a background to keep this money within Sri Lanka.
Minister Lakshman Kiriella made these references joining in the opening of the Education and Cultural Exhibition of D.S. Senanayake College Colombo. A large number of visitors joined in viewing the Exhibition titled “Senaasi.”
State Minister V.S. Radhakrishnan expressing his views on ths occasion revealed of plans to increase the salaries of science teachers. He said that the salaries of Principals have already been increased. He said that they planned to increase the salaries of teachers in the future.
