The second phase of the Virusara Privilege Programme will be launched on Monday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. It will be held at the auditorium of the Polonnaruwa, Hingurakgoda, Rajarata Vidyalaya. Fifty five organizations in the state and public sectors have joined the Virusara Privilege Programme. The first phase was launched under President Maithripala Sirisena. Virusara Privilege Cards were handed over at seven centres in the first phase under the patronage of Minister Ruwan Wijewardena. The Ranaviru Seva Authority has given nearly 14,000 Virusara Privilege Cards at present. Under the second phase of the programme, armed forces members who have completed 22 years of service would be given the Virusara Privilege Cards. Several private sector organizations are expected to provide assistance to develop schools in remote areas of Polonnaruwa and to offer scholarships for the children of war heroes to coincide with the second phase of the programme.
