Schools in the Kinniya area that were kept closed temporarily due to the outbreak of dengue re-opened today. Health Sectors claimed that many programmes have been launched to control the dengue mosquito crisis.
It was decided to keep these schools temporarily closed for three days with the spread of the disease in the Kinniya area. Thirteen deaths have been reported in the Trincomalee District as a result of the dengue crisis. Since schools were closed in the area as children too contracted the disease. The Kinniya Zonal Education Office decided to reopen these schools today. The Health Ministry has launched a special programme to control the dengue disease. The Security Forces and the Police as well as the Special Task Force are making a maximum contribution towards this programme.
