Minister Sajith Premadasa has challenged the groups in the opposition who are against singing the National Anthem in Sinhala and Tamil languages to issue a joint statement. He made this challenge during a meeting at Mahaa-naaga-pura in Lunugamvehera.Minister Premadasa said that the National Anthem was sung in Sinhala and Tamil languages at the Independence Day celebration. He said that the joint opposition has many views about this. He pointed out that some of them say that a National Anthem should be sung in Sinhala while the others say it should also be sung in Tamil. He added that some of them say its treacherous and some say it is not. He challenged them to issue a joint statement if possible about the matter.
