The report containing information on the land required by the people of the Sabaragamuwa Province rendered homeless due to landslides has been finalized. This has been revealed by Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath. He was addressing a media conference held in Colombo today.
The Chief Minister said that the number of families rendered homeless in the Sabaaragamuwa Province due to landslides was 1651. They are still sheltered in 65 camps. It includes four schools. 244 houses have been totally damaged. The Chief Minister said that the death toll as a result of the disaster was 47, while the number missing was 102.
Further addressing the journalists, the Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister mentioned that maximum support will be given to President Maithripala Sirisena at future elections.
