Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has called upon the nation to join hands with the United National Party to protect all victories that had been achieved. The Prime Minister was speaking yesterday at the final rally organized to consolidate the victory of the United National Party at the upcoming Local Government polls.
The final rallies of the United National Party were held centering the Galle, Matara and Colombo areas. Large crowds gathered at these public meetings held with the aim of ensuring the victory of the United National Party contesting the upcoming Local Government polls.
Expressing his views at the public meeting held at Grandpass Junction, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said that no murders had taken place during the election period and not a single house had been shattered. He queried whether such a peaceful election could be held. He recalled the hindrances they experienced last time when Azath Sally arrived. Several problems surfaced on the occasion. No incidents had taken place today. He said he wished to inform that it was only the United National Party that added value to votes of the voters.
The Prime Minister said that the United National Party tree did not have any water for 10 years. Some thought that the tree would die, but it did not happen. Now they have watered the tree and applied fertilizer. Branches have sprung up in this tree. In an year’s time there will be flowers and thereafter fruits. By 2020 there will be a full tree. Thereafter by 2025 there will be a park full of these trees. As such the Prime Minister invited all UNPers to cast their vote on the 10th. He said that the power assumed should be protected and the remaining issues sorted out. Therefore he requested to give the government of the country as well as that of the village to the United National Party.
Addressing the UNP final rally Minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka expressed views of genuine patriotism.
