President says more funds have been allocated from the budget for education

President Maithripala Sirisena has said that more funds have been allocated from this budget for education. The President further said that the present Government has given priority to the education of children under its policies.
The President said it is imperative to provide the resources necessary for education. As such he said that during the last two years his Government had made the highest allocation for education than the annual allocation made by the previous regimes. He said that also in the budget that was presented in Parliament today as he is aware in the process of allocations education receives the second place while the first place is for defence. He assured to build a better future for the children.
The President was speaking at the Annual Prize Giving of Princess Wales College Moratuwa. On arrival at the College, the President was accorded a rousing welcome by the school children with great affection. The President awarded prizes to students who displayed their skills. School teachers were also feted. A commemorative stamp was issued to mark the 175 Anniversary of the school. Among those present on the occasion were Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam State Minister Eran Wickremaratne and School Principal Malani Samarakoon .
