President says he is committed to building an intelligent generation

President Maithripala Sirisena says he is committed and will fulfill every responsibility to build an intelligent young generation that can win the market of scholars, with self-respect and self-confidence and the government is providing the required guidance. He said that the Government is launching the necessary programmes in this respect. The President made these observations joining in the launch of the Pulathisi Youth Camp.
This Pulathisi Youth Camp program is implemented under a concept of the President, with the objective of building a young generation which can contribute the forthcoming development process in the country, with their qualities of leadership and personality. This is the first youth camp of a series of such camps. The three-day Pulathisi Youth Camp will be held until 12th of this month at the Royal College of Polonnaruwa.
Further addressing the inaugural function, President Maithripala Sirisena said that this is the first time a three-day youth camp is held with participation of a large number of youth based on one district, after winning the independence of Sri Lanka. This example, he said which starts from Polonnaruwa, will be implemented island wide. The President recalled that the government is working with dedication to build a drug free youth in the country. “The youth of the country should be built as a youth with knowledge and moral values,” the President pointed out.
The President pointed out that the media also has a responsibility to convey a good message to the young generation and the people of the country. He appealed to all media institutions to provide a correct guidance to the youth by fulfilling their responsibility, forgetting personal and political agendas.
Ministers S. B. Dissanayake, Mahinda Samarasinghe, W. D. J. Senevirathne, Chief Minister of North Central province Peshala Jayaratne, State Minister Niroshan Perera and the District Secretary of Polonnaruwa Ranjith Ariyaratne were among the large gathering present on the occasion.
