President Maithripala Sirisena has said that receiving solutions for sustainable social and economic development through new technology is a victory. The President made this reference issuing a greetings message marking International Day of Telecommunication and Information Society.
The International Day of Telecommunication and Information Society is being commemorated marking the establishment of the International Telecommunications Union on May 17 1865.
This year’s theme is “Information and Communication Technology for Social Impact of Entrepreneurship.”
The President in his message further said that attention should be directed to enhancing national productivity affiliated to Information Technology. The President said that the application of Information Communication Technology by Sri Lanka in many sectors has increased rapidly.
Issuing another message marking International Day of Telecommunication and Information Society, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said that Information and Technology are making a considerable contribution to leading the world. The application of technology in every sphere sans limitations has commenced in the world. The Prime Minister pointed out that this is an impetus to win many fields.
