President Maithripala Sirisena extended his greetings to the school children who are to climb the world’s second highest mountain.
K2, located on the Pakistan-Chinese border, is the second-highest mountain in the world. It is Pakistan’s highest mountain; and the world’s 22nd most prominent mountain. The scout’s team of Dharmaraja College Kandy is geared to climb this mountain. The team met the President at the President’s Office.
The President who awarded a sum of one million rupees extended his greetings to the group. The President who handed over a Sri Lankan flag to be installed after climbing the mountain, posed for a group photograph with them.
Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, Provincial Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Thilina Bandara Tennekoon, Deputy Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scouts Association J. Fernando and Deputy Principal of Dharmaraja College Kandy Jagath Karunaratne were among those who joined in this occasion.
