President Maithripala Sirisena has said that he is determined to build a country in which all communities live in brotherhood. He pointed out that his intention is to create a country which would work in harmony devoid of anger and malice.
President Maithripala Sirisena made these observations joining in the “Yathiwara Harasara Pranaama Pooja” held at the Kaduruwela Jayanthi Maha Vihare in Polonnaruwa. It was organized by the Pulathisi Mahathera Sansadaya to mark the first year of good governance.
The Maha Sangha invoked blessings on President Maithripala Sirisena. They lauded the efforts made by the President to make the motherland a virtuous country in the world.
Further expressing his views at this function, President Maithripala Sirisena said that his Government is totally dedicated to building a just society based on the Buddhist philosophy and visions of other religions.
President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the government is committed towards building a society which ensures equality and fairness as per the teachings of all Religions. He pointed out that his Government is committed to building a just and equal society, according to all the religious philosophies including Buddhism. The President mentioned that he will build a country in which all the people can live together with the bond of brotherhood, without hatred towards others.
Scholarships were presented to the children of low income families of the district. Brass lamps were also presented for temples in the District.
Members of the Maha Sangha, Minister Wasantha Senanayake, North Central Chief Minister Peshala Jayaratne and several others were present on the occasion.
