President claims he is the only President who had declared his assets

President Maithripala Sirisena has emphasized that he is the only President who had disclosed his assets. He pointed out that no issue would surface if politicians and state officials discharge their duties openly.
President Maithripala Sirisena made these references addressing the inauguration of the implementation of the Right to Information Act. The event was organized at Temple Trees. 1800 Information Offices were apprised on the occasion. The Right to Information Bill was unanimously approved in Parliament on 14th June 2016. It is effective from the 04th of this month. The present Government succeeded in empowering democracy along with the consolidation of the Right to Information.
Further expressing his views on the occasion, President Maithripala Sirisena pointed out that demonstrations and protest marches are rife within Colombo today misusing the democratic freedom that is prevailing in the island. The President claimed that the Government has accorded the highest respect due to the war heroes.
The President launched the Right to Information website on the occasion.
Minister Gayantha Karunatilake and Deputy Minister Karunaratne Paranavithana also expressed their views.
Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Vajira Abeywardena and Chandrani Bandara, Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, Secretary to the Mass Media Ministry Nimal Bopage, Government Information Director General Ranga Kalansuriya and Ministerial Advisor on the Right to Information Act Piyatissa Ranasinghe were among those present on the occasion.
