President Maithrepala Sirisena visited several temples and received the blessings of Maha Sangha yesterday, following the dawn of Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The President went to Sri Vajiraramaya in Bambalapitiya and engaged in religious practices. Thereafter, he exchanged views with the Chief Monk of the temple, venerable Thrikunamalaye Ananda thera. The Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith and invoke blessings on the president for New Year. Following that, the President visited Dharmapala temple in Mt. Lavinia. He called over on the Maha Nayaka of Sri Lanka Amarapura Nikaya, Agga Maha Panditha most venerable Kotugoda Dhammavasa thera and received his blessings. The President also visited Maha Nayaka of Kotte Chapter of Siyam Maha Nikaya most venerable Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara thera.
