The postal voting for the General Election will commence tomorrow. The Elections Secretariat has decided to deploy a special group of officials to monitor the postal voting. Police officers, officials of Zonal Education offices and teachers of National Schools are scheduled to mark their postal votes tomorrow. The postal voting will take place on the 5th and 6th of this month. 8th of this month have been allocated for the officials of the Elections Department and the District Secretariat offices to cast their postal votes. The Elections Commissioner has informed the certified officers of working places through the Returning Officers to provide necessary facilities for postal voting. The Elections Commissioner has informed that a photograph or a document publicizing a candidate at the premises of a Certifying Officer is banned. Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said that postal voting will be cancelled at a place, if there were reports of obstructions or pressure.
