Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says there should be determination to build the country with one voice. He said that everyone’s commitment is needed to achieve that aim. The centenary anniversary celebration of Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association was held this morning at BMICH under the patronage of the Prime Minister. The Girl Guides were presented with awards by the Prime Minister during the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion the Prime Minister said, racism should be completely eliminated for the future of the country. He said that the government is trying to create a feeling for the country after 30 years of war. But he said it was not to take away the identities of different communities. Irrespective of different ethnicities and religions all are together as Sri Lankans with equal rights. The Prime Minster said all of us belong to this country and there is no other place to go, if this was lost. The country should work unitedly together as Sri Lankans. He said we should try be together as in 1948, when the country celebrates its 70th Independence Anniversary in 2018. The Prime Minister was presented with a memento at the ceremony. A large group of people including Professor Maithre Wickremasinghe were present on the occasion.
