Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has returned home ending a successful official

tour of Singapore. The Prime Minister visited the island to deliver the keynote address at the Third South Asia Diaspora Conference. During his stay there he met the President as well as the Prime Minister of Singapore. Several agreements were also inked.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe commenced his three-day official visit to Singapore on the 17th of this month. The delegation including the Prime Minister and Prof. Maithri Wickremasinghe was accorded a very warm welcome. The Singaporean Government organized a special function at the Changi Airport in Singapore to welcome Premier Wickremasinghe and his entourage.
The Prime Minister delivered the keynote address at the inaugural sessions of the South Asia Diaspora Conference in Singapore. In his address, Premier Wickremasinghe said he envisioned a tripartite arrangement with India and Singapore to enhance trade and investments in the region. The session held with the participation of about 1000 distinguished guests, was joined by both the President and the Prime Minister of Singapore.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe met Singaporean President Minister Tony Tang Keng and held discussions. The Sri Lankan Prime Minister during his talks pointed out that the people of his country on two occasions gave a mandate for the Government for a long term economic programme assuring prosperity instead of short sighted political and economic policies.
After these talks Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe met his Singaporean counterpart Li Shiang Lung. The Prime Minister and Prof. Maithri Wickremasinghe who arrived for the talks were accorded a warm welcome by the Singaporean Prime Minister and his wife. Thereafter they were accorded a military guard of honour.
The Singaporean Prime Minister said that many firms in his country are prepared to invest in Sri Lanka due to the positive policies adhered to by the island nation. Five agreements between the two countries were also signed on this occasion. These related to trade, urban development, culture, public service and industries as well as vocational training.
The Prime Minister also joined in an observation tour of the Civil Service College in Singapore. On this occasion, he said that radical changes should be effected to bring the Administrative Service in Sri Lanka to illustrious heights. The Prime Minister also had talks with senior officials of the College. Premier Wickremasinghe and his delegation viewed a training session of officials and thereafter posed for a group photograph.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister joined in a tour of the Singaporean Harbour premises. Senior officials of the Ports Authority of Singapore assured unstinted support for harbour development in Sri Lanka.
Singaporean Prime Minister Li Shiang Lung and his wife hosted a lunch in honour of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, Prof. Maithri Wickremasinghe and the delegation. Speaking on the occasion, Premier Wickremasinghe said that the country has entered into a correct path under President Maithripala Sirisena. He pointed out that its basic foundation was national reconciliation and economic growth.
