Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has emphasized that the present Government will not be engaged in doing politics within education aims.
Joining in the 51st Colombo Camporee 2016, the Prime Minister revealed that a decision has been taken to recruit 5000 to fill vacancies in remote areas. The 51 Colombo Camporee is being held at the Vihara Mahadevi Park. 3050 scouts, Cub Scouts and Singithi Scouts are participating. Today was the third day of the Camporee and the opening took place under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.
On arrival for the Camporee, the Prime Minister was welcomed after he tied the scouts neckerchief followed by the Scouts Yell. The Prime Minister presented certificates to the Cub Scouts at today’s inauguration.
Expressing views on the occasion that Prime Minister underlined that they are not engaged in politics aimed at education.
The Prime Minister said that for some time the aim of education was not targeted at education but at politics. If it was targeted at political aims, education would not succeed. As such the aim of the Government headed by President Maithripala Sirisena was to develop education and provide a better education. At present there is a major dearth of maths and science teachers. The Prime Minister revealed that discussions are underway to recruit 5000 teachers and impart training to them and post them to schools in remote areas.
Thereafter the Prime Minister joined in meeting the Cub Scouts of Royal College in the Camporee premises.
