These references have been made by Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. The Minister was addressing a news conference held at the Ministry of Power and Energy.
The Minister said that a group of about 1400 metre readers was recruited on a piece rate basis through companies. There were persons who had served for about seven to eight years. As a policy, the Minister mentioned that they are ready to grant permanent appointments to those who have the required qualifications.
Interviews are scheduled to commence this week. He pointed out that there are also some who do not have the required qualifications. They will be recruited to the Electricity Board on a probationary ground.
