Minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka has said that the present
government has proved through deeds how the country could be developed sans corruption. The Minister made this reference launching the Maharagama Town Development programme.
The first stage of constructing the bus stand under the Maharagama Town Development Project was launched today. 200 million rupees will be spent on the construction of the bus stand. The construction will be handled by the Land Reclamation and Development Corporation.
The Minister said that investors and tourists were arriving in the country due to the peace enthroned by the members of the Armed Forces making supreme sacrifice. He said that it is not a secret of actions taken by certain elements to destroy this peace and drive away the investors. He assured that the country’s development will be carried forward while waging the battle against the corrupt. He said that they would prove how development could be effected sans corruption within the next few years.
It is planned to develop 23 towns and improve the infrastructure in affiliation to these towns. It is in this respect that the Mahargama Town Development Project was started.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa said that the dashing of coconuts had not brought any results. Now the Opposition has begun to approach Geneva, which they criticized earlier.
Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya said a new political culture is in place in the country after January 08th. He said that the people are enjoying the fruits of the changes in the country. Development has been taken to the village.
