The Palestinian Minister of Religious Affairs has commended the religious tolerance prevailing in the country.
Palestinian Religious Affairs Minister Dr. Mahmoud al-Habbash, met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning at the Temple Trees. He said that he informed the representatives of the Jamiyyathul Ulama of the importance of living amicably with people of other faiths when he met them. He stated that Sri Lanka can be described as a beautiful country of a great people. Views were also exchanged on the Israel-Palestine peace process that has stagnated. The Minister also appreciated the assistance extended by Sri Lanka for his country to obtain an observer status in the UN General Assembly. He extended an invitation to the President to visit Palestine. He also visited the Gangarama temple in Colombo. His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith will also meet him.
