October is to be declared a Bribery and Corruption Prevention month

October this year will be declared the month of preventing bribery and corruption. This was revealed by Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. He said that measures would be taken to include matters in this respect in the school curricula with the intention of moulding a student generation filled with qualities of eradicating of bribery and corruption.

The Minister said that bribery and corruption are rife in this country and the new Government took over power against such vices. The people effected the change against it. But it is not an easy task. As such they have decided to declare October this year as the anti-bribery and corruption month. He said that they hoped to launch programmes in this regard in every school. They hoped to implement whatever programme that is being launched against bribery and corruption. He revealed that the National Institute of Education has been instructed to include this subject in the school curricula in collaboration with the Bribery or Corruption Commission.
Many programmes are being planned to be launched with the desire of preventing bribery and corruption among the school community. The Minister was expressing views during a programme mooted to educate its resource personnel. This is one of the steps in the series of programmes. Accordingly it is intended to establish Bribery and Corruption Eradication Social Units.
