Jaffna High Court Judge M. Ilancheliyan can be described as a person who had provided a noble example for genuine reconciliation to the Southern people. He had also explicitly clarified to the Southern community what real reconciliation is. A Buddhist monk from the South has gone to Jaffna to pay tribute to him and invoke blessings on him.
The Ven. Buddhangala Ananda Thera visited the Jaffna High Court Complex with a view to meeting High Court Judge M. Ilancheliyan. This great High Court Judge who used a Sinhala Police Officer for nearly 15 years to serve as his security officer and placed trust in him succeeded in placing certain southern racists with no answers.
The Ven. Buddhangala Ananda Thera who visited Jaffna to expressed gratitude to the High Court Judge and invoke blessings on him, mentioned that the manner in which the High Court Judge behaved at the time of the death of Sergeant Sarath Hemachandra was a noble example to all citizens of this country. He said that the judge also taught a noble lesson to all citizens irrespective of communal differences.
The Ven. Thera also appreciated the pledge given by the judge to care for the two children of the late Police Officer. A letter of acclamation in this respect was also handed over by the monk to the High Court Judge.
Jaffna Commanding Officer Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi also joined in this occasion. A Buddha Statue was gifted to Mr. Ilancheliyan.
