A ceremony to welcome new Navy Commander Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe was held at his alma mater, the Anuradhapura Central College.

The function was organized by the Past Pupils Association of the Anuradhapura Central. The New Navy Commander first joined in paying floral tributes to the statue of Denzil Kobbekaduwa established at the roundabout, opposite the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. Thereafter he was conducted in a colourful procession to St. Joseph’s College Anuradhapura where he had his academic studies. School Principal R.K.S. Katugampala presented a memento to the Navy Chief.

Later he was conducted to the Anuradhapura Central College and the Swarnapali National School where he had his tertiary education. Addressing the felicitation ceremony at Anuradhapura Central College the new Navy Commander said that he engaged in dire efforts to reach the current status.
