The National Mosquito Control Week commenced today. It covers the entire island. The Week will be operative until Monday the 03rd.
The launch of the National Mosquito Control Week took place in Colombo as well as in Jaffna. The Mosquito Control week is being mooted on the instructions of Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne. The Presidential Task Force and the National Dengue Control Unit are playing a leading role in this programme. The launch in Colombo took place near the Dematagoda Prison grounds. It was organized under the patronage of Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala.
Expressing his views on the occasion Health Services Director General pointed out that 4500 teams have joined in reining the mosquito menace. The Jaffna District Mosquito Control Week commenced under the auspices of the Northern Provincial Health Services Director General A. Ketheeswaran. Arrangements have been finalized to launch the mosquito control programme covering the Jaffna, Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi Districts.
