Minister Sagala Ratnayake says that many evidence related to the killings, disappearances, assaults and arrests of journalists during the past, has been destroyed. He mentioned this as a reply to a question raised in parliament by MP Nalinda Jayathissa. MP Nalinda Jayathissa said that there is a delay in cases related to killings, disappearences and assaults of journalists. Minister Sagala Ratnayake said that there are 13 in the list of killings, 87 in the list of assaults and 20 journalists have been arrested. He said that most of the evidence has been destroyed and now they are being listed again. The cases related to Lasantha Wickremathunge and Prageeth Eknaligoda are in a good stage now but cannot be discussed as those are being heard in courts. He said that cases have not been delayed and efficient teams are proceeding with investigations. He said cases have been filed against those who destroyed evidence.
