Minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka says that many future challenges could be overcome by properly managing water. Minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka said that the major challenge for the country in future will be the proper management of water as it will experience drought on one side and floods on the other side. He said that the country needs a mega project to take water to drought hit areas and to manage the excess water. He said that a transport system similar to the one which was there when the Dutch were in the country, is also needed. He further said that if the water in the Kelani River can be properly managed, it could be used for a transport system and also to provide water to dry areas of the country. The Minister expressed these views while attending a function at Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation. 28 employees of the Corporation who rendered an excellent service were recognized on the occasion. Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, high ranking officials of the Corporation and a group of people were present on the occasion.
