Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says that the Government is implementing a methodology to re-pay the huge debt taken by the previous Government. The Prime Minister mentioned this while vesting in the public of a housing project built for the people affected by the landslides of Arananayaka Saama Sara Mountain The housing project was built with the assistant of Rhyno Roofing Products Company for the people in Elangapitiya and surrounding villages, affected by the landslides of Aranayaka Saamasara Mountain. 50 million rupees has been spent to build the project with 20 houses. This is the first phase of providing permanent housing for the people affected by landslides. Housing deeds were given to the recipients under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. The Government has decided to grant 1.2 million rupees each for 350 families affected by the landslides of Saamasara Mountain. 76 families were given their cheques on the occasion. The Prime Minister said more than 300 billion rupees of loans have to be repaid. Repaying the loan taken to Hambantota Port will commence this year. Speaking on the occasion Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said that the Government laid the foundation to develop economy which was in a state of collapse. Ministers Kabir Hashim and Ranjith Siyambalapitiya also expressed their views on the occasion.
