The Medical Faculty students have decided to attend lectures from next Monday. They have decided to resume lectures after 10 months. The decision has been taken by the Medical Faculty Student’s Action Committee. Its convener Ryan Jayalath stated that all government medical faculty students will resume attending lectures on November 20th.
Medical Students refrained from attending lectures as a result of the SAITM crisis. The Government took a decision on the 29 of last month to abolish the Malambe SAITM Private Medical Faculty. Eight proposals had been made by the Government to sort out the SAITM issue following solutions put forward by the Committee appointed by the President. Also the Vice Chancellors of the Universities issuing a statement recently appealed to the students to resume lectures as the Government has taken the necessary initiatives for the resolution of the dispute.
The Medical Faculty Student’s Action Committee said that a decision has been taken to resume lectures following the conducive situation that has arisen.
Convener of the Medical Faculty Student’s Action Committee Ryan Jayalath said that the Government medical faculty students will attend lectures from November 20th after the issue of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine was solved satisfactorily.
