Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage was summoned to the Presidential Commission inquiring into serious fraud and corruption. He was summoned to the Commission to record a statement over allegations that he had illegally acquired two lands of the Railways Department.
Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage had obtained a land with an extent of 13.2 perches in the Ambagamuwa area in Nawalapitiya belonging to the Railway Department on a lease basis. The Parliamentarian is accused of violating the lease conditions and putting up illegal constructions.
Another allegation made against him is using a land with an extent of 79.5 perches and also belonging to the Railway Department for political purposes under the guise of maintaining a social service centre.
It is reported that the Parliamentarian had been interrogated for several hours about these allegations.
