Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe presided over the ceremony to cut the longest cake prepared at Grand Hotel, Nuwaraeliya. The cake has been made mixing potatoes and named as Chocolate-Potato Cake. It was 111 meters long and weighed 380 kilograms. 75 kilograms of potatoes, 25 kilograms of potato powder, 70 kilograms of sugar, 40 kilograms of Chocolate, and 900 eggs had been used to prepare the cake, at a cost of 380,000 rupees. East Rest sponsored the cake. 50 chefs including the Executive Chef Viraj Jayaratne made the cake. Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Development authority Kavan Ratnayake, Nuwaraeliya Mayor Chandanalal Karunaratne, Grand Hotel’s General Manager Rishan Razim were present on the occasion.
