President Maithripala Sirisena says that the challenge to build a clean political culture in the country would be overcome. He said that the present Government is engaged in the difficult task of creating politicians who love the country. The President said this during a function at Talawa Ground which was held to give land deeds to the farmers of Mahaweli H Zone. He said that the Government has performed many tasks which have not been done by any Government amidst accusations and charges. The President said that the Government has given priority to improve economic conditions of the farming community and to build the national economy through that. He said that the present Government will provide a sustainable solution to the garbage problem for which no other Government has been able to find solution. He said that measures will be taken to provide products of the first and second rounds of the project to produce compost fertilizer from garbage, free of charge to the farmers. Land deeds for 6,200 farmers in Mahaweli H Zone were given under the national programme to provide 1,000 land deeds for Mahaweli settlers. A large group of people including Mahasangha and Parliamentarians were present on the occasion. Following the ceremony the President went to the premises of Eppawala Cooperative Society. He spoke with the workers there who worked with the President when he was working there as a supplies officer. The staff of the Cooperative Society who warmly welcomed him presented the President with a memento. Chairman of the Cooperative Society Sarath Chandrasekera showed the President his personal file during the time he worked at the place. Thereafter the President took a group photograph with the staff.
