President Maithripala Sirisena says that everyone should be united to fight today to build the nation and not for power. The President said this while attending the inauguration ceremony of Monaragala, Kumbukkanoya reservoir project. The Kumbukkan-oya Reservoir project has been launched at a cost of 31,000 million rupees to make the lives of the people of Uva Wellassa prosperous through agriculture again. The project aims to provide clean drinking water to the people and to provide water to agriculture. People in Monaragala Buttala and Siyambalanduwa will be benefitted from the project.  The project also aims to develop 3,100 cultivations, creating 10,300 new cultivations and to generate 16 Giga watts of power annually. The project was launched at Kumbukkan Amuna area under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. Addressing the function the President said that the programme to uplift agriculture and to improve living conditions of the farmers have been implemented at present. He said that measures have been taken to renovate small and medium scale tanks and to launch new irrigation schemes. He said that the Government is methodically implementing plans to resettle people who lose their lands to development projects and to improve their economy. He said that there would be no problems related to those issues. The President said that steps will be taken to resolve the problems of the people through the development of the Monaragala District. Ministers Vijth Wijayamuny Soysa, Ranjith Maddumabandara, Deputy Minister Sumedha G. Jayasena and a large group of people were present on the occasion.
